Magic of Incarnum Questions

Hey guys. You all have been a ton of help in the past, so hopefully I can count on you this time as well!

Recently I decided to take Magic of Incarnum out for a spin in an Age of Worms campaign. With 3.5 wrapping up and 4E starting soon, I feel like I should use some of those strange books I bought but never got to see in play.

Anyway, so far I have two questions that hopefully you guys can help me answer.

1) As far as I can see, nothing I can do as an Incarnate ever requires SR. Is this true? If not, what does require SR? I don't see any column anywhere suggesting whether or not a power is affected by SR, which makes me think it isn't.

2) The Mantle of Flames Soulmeld surrounds the shaper with flames that damage anyone striking the shaper. Can I lower them to allow a Cleric to heal me? Would I not need to? If I can, what type of action is it?

Thanks a lot in advance for any help you guys can provide! :)

Check page 52. It says, under "Soulmeld-Magic Transparency," that SR works against any effects caused by soulmelds that affect other creatures.

I guess there's no official answer, but either the meldshaper could make certain individuals immune to the flames, just as he himself is immune, or maybe lower the flames for a while. I'd say free actions for both, maybe swift.

Edit: Or you could rule that delivering a beneficial spell is not "striking" as described in the soulmeld description.

This would be my ruling. "Strike" sounds like an attack to me, and that seems to fit the spirit of the rules best.

Wow, thanks for the quick answers!

I had totally missed the SR part. Crap. Well, I guess there is no reason I can't take Spell Penetration right?

The way I roll I probably will need it.

Thanks again!

If I remember right, there's a weapon enhancement in Magic Item Compendium called Shattermantle that deals damage to SR. Might be worth slapping onto your favored beatstick.
