magic of incarnum save DCs

Am i missing some other balancing factor, or are the save DCs for incarnum soulmeld effects *really* low? The formula is 10 + ability mod + "essentia invested in the soulmeld"--and that maxes out at 4 at 20th level, and is roughly 1/5th of level, rounded up, at each level. Spell (and most other class ability) saves seem to very consistently scale at a rate equal to half character (or class) level; why are soulmeld save DCs so low?

Incarnates have a higher max essentia capacity than others do, also there are feats that expand some of the capacity limits. Most soulmelds don't really need save DCs since they don't effect enemies directly.

IMO, save DCs are too low (not just in Magic of Incarnum) in general, but I hope the above information helps.
