Yes, magic weapons with the heavy/light throw property return to your hand when thrown. It's on page 232 of the PHB.

Yep, as soon as the attack resolves, it appears automagically back in the throwers hand.

I just love that.

Also, the Seeker can throw even mundane throwing weapons and have them return(with a +1 to the attack roll, no less!) if they are Spiritbond Seekers. The Eberron setting includes two boomerang-like weapons with this same ability. The only restriction is that they must be weapons you are proficient in.

Talking about Eberron: Artificers also have this ability, IIRC.

Is there a difference between a thrown wpn and a melee as far as returning. Is there a feat or power that allows someone to throw a melee wpn and have it come back. I'm kind of thinking of Wulfgar in FR and his warhammer.

There's level 23 Barbarian encounter power, Arcing Throw.

As the rules are written, throwing a magic melee weapon is different... it won't return (and you'd technically have to treat it as an improvised weapon) unless it has the light or heavy thrown properties.
