Magical Clothes, Padded Armor and Dex bonus.

Padded Armor is the most dex friendly of the "armor" choices.
1 ac, 8 dex bonus, it is the exact opposite of Full Plate Mail.

A chr rarely gets their dex at the +8 modifier, even rarer still to go +9 or hell even +10, even with items.

Is it possible for clothes to have a magical ac bonus, as the padded armor could have? The instant his dex bonus passes the +8 mark the padded armor begins holding him back. Is it possible to buy, find, make magical clothes that give no ac bonus, nor inhibit dex?

As it is, i have big plans for my chr's dex and i am willing to shed all armor bonuses in favor of it, but I could find no rules supporting or trashing magical Clothes and ac bonuses.

Buy Bracers of Armour or find a cleric to cast an Extended Magic Vestment on your clothes every day.

There is precedent for a non-armour item giving an armour bonus (Robe of the Archmagi), but otherwise you'd need to get your DM to approve adding an armour bonus to normal clothes; the standard enhancement bonus can only be added to armour.

Bracers of Armor are what you are looking for. A quick chat with your Friendly Neighborhood DM would probably get you permission to make the same item for a different bodily location... A Shirt of Armor, Robe of Armor, Vest of Armor or Cloak of Armor, for instance. This would probably also result in a 50% increase in the base cost, however.

If you meant to ask, "is it possible to acquire magical clothes that give an AC bonus, but do not inhibit dex?" then others have already given you your answer.

If you meant what you actually said, then the answer is: any normal clothes will give you no AC bonus, nor inhibit dex.

I think 3.5 lends more support to the notion of adding enhancement bonuses to a +0 armor bonus "armor." I say this because of the note under the barkskin spell that says:
"A creature wihthout natural armor has an effective natural armor bonus of +0, much as a character wearing only normal clothing has an armor bonus of +0."

Natural armor enhancement bonuses can help someone who has natural armor bonus of +0. Why wouldn't armor enhancement bonuses help someone who has an armor bonus of +0?
