Magnetism

Ok - I'm trying to find a nice way to represent magnetism in d20 w/out making it complex. Any ideas or examples?

The early version I came up with was for item w pull = mass at 1', and 1/4 that for each foot out (yes, I know it should by d^2). Any better ideas? Also - what was the strongest magnet from Egyptian to Victorian times?

I'd just make it a radius effect myself...Str check to resist, Fort or Ref save to not be pulled in, etc.

And the biggest magnet 'twasn't very big....I'm guessing raw lodestone, not really refined stuff....

The strongest magnet that egyptian-victorian age people had was really loadstone. then sometime in the 19th century they started with electro-magnets......

kirinke is correct. Prior to batteries and generators, the best magnets around were lodestones. Good enough to make a compass from, if you're careful. But otherwise, not too terribly buff.
