Magus.... MONK

Hey Guys,

I ended up making a Magus Bladebound/Kensai toting a lovely Uruami (whipsword), and I was thinking after level 3, taking a couple of levels of Monk Master of Many Styles, with Panther Style and Snapping Turtle Style, as I wanted to be able to run through enemies AoOing everything.

Does anyone have any opinions on if that would work?

I mostly was just wondering if it was worth it, and if I can spellstrike as my retaliatory unarmed strike attack? or is it kinda pointless?

Dipping Monk will hurt you a lot, likely more than it helps you, especially if it's for more than a level or 2. And if you did go MoMS, you should get Crane Wing. It gels so perfectly w/ Magus, when I read the title of the thread, I immediately assumed that was why you wanted the multiclass.

The other thing is, Monk dip is mainly good if doing a Hexcrafter, so you can then take Hex Strike feat to make an unarmed attack and deliver a hex with it as a swift action. You are not doing hexcrafter, so I seriously question the utlity of dipping.

Whether you can spellstrike w/ your unarmed or not, you should always do it with your bladed weapon, you want as a high a crit range as possible on that spell.

A warrior must learn many styles to defeat his foes. If a whipsword-wielding magus learned of a fighting style that would complement his own, why wouldn't he pursue it?
