Make Whole reparing a wepon

sty

First Post
My sword was been hit and broken in combat.

I want to use the spell "Make Whole" to repair it.

How does the spell work?

It "glues" the broken peaces or create some material to repair the object?

Do I have to hold the broken peaces or just one peace is enought to the spell work and repair the wepon?

Thanks for the assintant!!

The PH description is pretty hazy on how the process works exactly, but you don't have to hold the broken pieces (as its range is close). All the pieces being in the range of the spell would probably be sufficient for it to work, or otherwise it may not work... reasoning being if you can snap a sword in two and make whole them both (resulting in two identical swords), we'd have a bit of an economic problem on our hands.

Make Whole
Transmutation
Level: Clr 2
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Target: One object of up to 10 cu. ft./level
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless, object)
Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless, object)
Make whole completely repairs an object made of any substance, even one with multiple breaks or tears. The repaired object is as strong as new. The spell does not restore the magical abilities of a broken magic item made whole, and it cannot mend broken magic rods, staffs, or wands. The spell does not repair items that have been warped, burned, disintegrated, ground to powder, melted, or vaporized.

It seems pretty clear to me that the spell would restore the sword to it's proper state, assuming that you have all the pieces. It doesn't create any new material, so if you don't have all the peices, it should fail.

It would not return any magical properties to a weapon, but I think that a masterwork weapon would still be masterwork after the repair.

Ok, but...

Of course the pieces would join into only one sword, not one for each piece...

Ok, but would I have to be with all the pieces in my hands or, like clark411, the pieces would just have to be close to me when I cast the spell?? (I have the remaning piece in my hands)

As long as all the pieces are in range, it should work. If you had to hold all the pieces, the range would be "touch."

but if you have one piece of the sword in your hand and the other 25 feat away? It's a bit nostalgic, but it seems to me that the range works for example for a broken object with its parts close. it will not bring the broken piece of the sword to your hands, but it would fix it if it was in a bag inside range.

What do you mean?

Tagore,

It seems that you think the range of the spell is only the distance from you to all the pieces in the same (next) space??

Like MrZoink said se you need to touch all the pieces the range would be touch.

For me, after all this coments, even in the situation that you propusal, that the spell is enought "strong" to bring the broken piece back to the one you're holdind and fix it.
