Making webpages

I have web page space through my ISP, but I don't have any software to make a web page. I can program simple pages through wordpad but was wondering if there are any decent and FREE web page makers out there. I also need an FTP program to send everything. Any help?

Google searches turns up a few but I don't know which are actually free and whick ones require registration.

Any help would be appreciated.

mozilla contains an editor called composer mozilla but i have never tried it.

if you just want a better text editor i would recommend edit+

Just here to second BardStephenFox's suggestion. I have used it for years and I like it a lot.

Araneae is excellent, if you already know your HTML code. As for FTP, I use Terrapin FTP, it's not free but reasonably cheap - and you get a trial period to see if you like it.

Netscape has Composer built in for designing web pages & the Post option works as an FTP once you set it up. I used to use cuteFTP as a free FTP before I got Dreamweaver. It used to be free, though I don't know if it still is or where you would find it now.
