Man, I freakin' love these new Dungeon Tiles

I use home spun ones, they're cheaper and can be customized for the odd passage or room. I wasn't impressed at the price to quality ratio. Though I must admit they were better than I thought (I got a chance to sneak peek them at GenCon).

See now I think that the simple fact that I don't have to spend time making them myself negates the whole quality to price issue. For 9.95 I'd rather simply buy 2 or 3 packs of these and have enough to mix and match.

Sure I can buy, the PDF tiles, print them out on my color printer, glue them to foam core or cardboard and flatten them out to make sure there are no bubbles and all that jazz. But you know just buying them and laying them out just takes alot less time...

In the spirit of good debate - I'll concede that point, but OTH, you're limited to the designer's vision of "normal" dungeon design and not able to use the extent of your imagination. I doubt seriously that any "grand halls" can or will be printed in the future without driving the price up and I don't see a lot of use for octoganal rooms in the norm to include it in a product, but I use them quite often as a storytelling device to descibe a specific type of architecture unique to my campaign.

I never said the product didn't have its place and Iare well constructed, but are far too limiting for me to use. Besides, I like creating stuff. :) However, I just recently upgraded to the Dagoom wall sets which I will arange on a blank piece of laminated battle map - so I am always open to new ideas. This just doesn't suit me at the moment. (I like 3D vs 2D any day of the week. :D )

The Dungeon Tiles are a great product at a great price. At $10 for a set, its cheaper than most pdf dungeon tile sets. The only problem I see is that you need a box or a ziplock bag to store them in.

That depends on the manufacturer. $10 will cover nearly two complete E-Z TILES sets which will give you over 50 tiles, plus they are fully customizable allowing you to use them again and again and not have them look the same way twice (all room contents can be turned on/off to customize each tile before printing). Preprinted tile sets means you are stuck with item locations like tables, chairs, etc.

Point taken.

I'll just add that with ANY product I'll be limited to the designers vison unless I design it myself, but I totally see what you mean and respect that veiw. Hell, D00d if I had unlimited time, enough space and players who appreciated it I'd be doing the same thing that you do.

In the meantime I'll take a look at dagoom.com.

Ahhh - parity and respect - I think the Internet just broke. :D

Comparison

Has anyone used both the Dagoom products and the Fat Dragon Games EZ-Dungeon together? I'm just wondering how the the two compare in size and whether or not they might work well together.

EZ-Dungeon is set for 30mm scale. I can't find the scale for the Dagoom products. I thought I saw somewhere it was for 20mm scale, but I can't find where I saw that.

I wasn't planning to buy the Dungeon tiles at all....

until I read this thread. I'm sure it won't hurt my budget to pick up one set, or two. :)

This is one of the products I really wish someone around here would stock...darn lack of game shops...

I'm fairly certain that they're available at bookstores and if they aren't on the shelf they would order them for you...
