Map Folio I: Whay would you buy it?

If, for some reason, I wanted the entire book full of maps printed out, I would buy them. Printing color maps eats up ink cartridges, and the end result is bound to be nicer from WotC.

But then, this, like many products, is one that I am only liable to use a small part of. Small enough that printing them out myself seems like it would be more economical.

Now if they have (I don't know; they might) full-color printouts of the dwarven ruins in Undermountain size fold-outs, I might consider it anyways.

THe only book of full colored maps that ever interested me was the Kalamr Atlas. And if I was ever going to run that world I would get it. But for a more generic map product I'd perfer to get it in pdf form so I could print them out as player handouts and rip them in half or otherwise partially destroy them so they feel more like a well beaten and used map.

Well, I bought the Map Folio, and I have both access to the internet (duh) and a good printer. However, my cartridges cost an arm and a leg. The map folio maps are not minature sized, but they are clear, on good paper, with beautiful color. Not only are they useful, the have inspired a few adventures in my head.

I plan on buying the folios because I use the map-a-week feature of WotC's site and I'd like to have high quality versions of them in full color.

Besides, it's only $10. If it had been more expensive, I would've passed, but given how easy it use to use the maps and the dungeon generator material from the DMG, I'm buying them.

I imagine they will cease to make them availible online once they are released in the Folio.

Oddly enough I doubt it.

I suspect that the reasoning at WoTC is simply that there are not all that many folks who bother going online for maps, so there is a base available to purchase the item.

Heck, I suspect that they may well be right, and could sell the Maps of Mystery fromDungeon as a seperate product as well.

The Auld Grump, oddly, because I am a cynic and a pesssimist...
