Mapping Software: Hexes?

There seems to be a number of different mapping softwares available. I am looking for one that is built around Hexes (you know -- the old school way of doing overland maps). I'd prefer it if there were levels of hexes (i.e. click on a 24 mile hex and you get the 6 mile hexes that make it up, and so on). Does such a software exist -- or at least an option like this in another software? if not, who wants to help mebuild one.

ViewingDale does mapping in grids and hexes both at any scale. Instead of clicking on the hex you can just zoom in and get more detail so by updating the map at the 6 mile hex res, the map at 24 mile scale will be updated automatically because its the same map. Because its just one map, when viewing the map at a hex boundary, you get to see both sides of the hex. I.e. there are no borders.

CC3 allows for hexes as well. Hexes (and squares as well) are a grid overlay. I think you'll find that's the case in most mapping software.

You can always change the grid overlay dimensions to get smaller or larger hexes.

Another option: With "hot spots" in CC3 maps, you can link to other map files that would then open up (your smaller hexes with more detail, for example).

There is even a feature to automatically number/letter hexes with labels as well.

One of the CC2 Pro add-on products had pre-drawn hex symbols of various terrain types that you could use on a hex grid map template, but I can't remember which product that was now.
