I'm looking for a good mapping software program to create maps for my adventures, I'd prefer free, but I might settle for cheap as long as there was a trial before purchasing. Anyone have any recommendations?

If you want to make dungeons, then Interactive Dungeon is the best free easy to use program IMO. I use it for almost every adventure I use. Google it and download it, worst case scenario you lost 5 minutes of time.

http://www.nbos.com/ - they make Fractal Mapper which is inexpensive commercial software. Under Downloads they have free trials of their different softwares.

Hexmapper for old school style maps. Very small program,very easy to use. Not very versatile, good for what it is. Dont even think its still suported anymore...
