Ok, thanx everybody.
Here is what our playing group decided to do about it, so I guess this should be moved to the House Rules section from here on.
--------
"One bag of marbles emptied into an area 5 foot square, fills the area with adequate coverage to force any creature moving through (at half speed, see below) or fighting in the area to make a Balance check against DC 10. Failure means the subject is unable to move for 1 round or may fall, as per the Balance-skill.
The following modifiers apply to the Balance DC:
- Carefully arranging the marbles (requiring 1d4 rds) +5
- Subject moving at normal speed (see Balance) +5
- Space occupied while marbles are spread -5
- Each extra pair of legs (creature) -5
- Each size category larger than Medium (creature) -5
- Each consecutive round of creatures moving in the area -2
Note: You are considered flat-footed while balancing. If you take damage while Balancing, you must make another Balance check against the same DC to remain standing. (See Balance for details)
After 1d4+1 creatures have entered the area, or after an equal number of rounds with the area occupied, the marbles are considered to have been dispersed. The marbles can also be swept away with a suitable implement (such as a long staff), requiring one round for each 5 foot square (and provoking attacks of opportunity)."
