Marks from Enemies?

I was reading through KotS and I noticed that Dragonshield's mark players when they attack... But it dosen't say what the Dragonshield's mark does. It just marks them. Why should I even bother tracking this if it dosn't DO anything? Or did I miss something??

A marked creature (be it PC or monster) has a -2 to hit anything other than the creature that marked them.

Sometimes marks provide additional effects such as the paladin's damaging mark. But these are the exceptions.

A marked creature has a -2 penalty to hit on any attack that does not include the marking creature as a target.

Some marks do more than that, but all marks do at least that.
