Martial scripts

Can anyone use them, even non-martial-adepts?

Is the maneuver you get from a martial script usable only once, or can you recover it as normal during the 1 hour?

I would expect the former, but there's a note that "If the maneuver can be used only once per encounter or has other use restrictions, all those limitations apply to your use of it." which implies that you could somehow use the maneuver more than once per encounter.

Looks like it.

I think the idea is that if you use a script during an encounter, the maneuver is treated like any other maneuver. It becomes expended after you use it, but if you have a refresh mechanic, you can get it back.

If you use the script outside an encounter, the maneuver is available for use for up to one hour. If you have a refresh mechanic, you can use it multiple times during that hour.

I've found a line I missed: "When you read a script, you gain the ability to use the single martial maneuver recorded on it for one encounter."

So it would seem that once you read the script you can use it in any one encounter in the next hour, and recover it as desired withing that encounter, but once that encounter is done, the maneuver is gone, even though the 1 hour still isn't up.

Do you need to fulfill the initiatior level and maneuver requirements to use a maneuver granted by a script? It doesn't explicitly say so, but the whole "all normal rules apply" thing could be interpreted that way.

It's priced as a potion, and there's no mention of prereqs, so I would say that you don't need to satisfy prereqs to use a script. The "all normal rules apply" clause refers to _using_ the maneuver, as opposed to _learning_ it.

Yeah, this could be powerful, but the limit on only having one scripted maneuver at a time means you can't buff like crazy. Also, barbs get no love. :D

Best Martial Script abuse: let a Warforged read a Stance script. He uses it... and then he doesn't go out of it. :)

Warforged is necessary because normally stances end when you sleep. Elves might also be able to abuse this; depends on how your DM rules trance works, or if it does at all.

Cheers, -- N

Well, if my reading (read script, initiate maneuver anywhere in the next hour, it lasts for the duration of that encounter) is correct, the warforged thing doesn't really work: you'd lose the stance when the encounter was over.
