D&D 5E Mask of Many Faces Combat Idea

So I thought of a concept while in combat. If I took out one of the enemies without them knowing could I use Disguise Self to make myself appear as them and make myself not get attacked by them? As long as my ruse doesn’t fail me. As a DM would you allow advantage on the first attack roll for a PC doing this since they fooled them into believing in who they are.

Sure, maybe with a Deception check.
I did flat out allow it with unintelligent skeletons and a Hat of Disguise before.
