I just read the rules for mass arrow fire in the Complete Warrior. They are a little odd, but quite usable and very easy/efficient (it gets odd if you have a 20th-lvl commander and a bunch of 1st-lvl commoners...).
But my question is this: shouldn't there be an option to cover a smaller area than that which the archers themselves take up? Picture this - 10,000 archers firing on 500 foot soldiers. Only 500 of the archers even have a chance to hit since the areas must be equal. Weird.
Would it be alright to allow twice as many archers to double-up the arrows on each square the enemy takes up?
