Because prepainted miniatures are heresy! :D

Really, now... I like painting my miniatures, and I think I can do it better than the guy who paints 100 of them a day, because I can devote more time to them. Besides, when I do it myself, I get to choose the colors.

Of course, if I see a really cool miniature that's prepainted... There's always the brake fluid. :D

There are no options on the above poll for people like me, who love to use figures. For the climax battle of a recent campaign I had over 200 miniatures on the table and it worked extremely well.

The above is in response to my last poll that had around 50 replies about what players need in mass combat d+d. No one checked pre-painted minis.

I was wondering why.

I have both, love painting and hate painting 120 figures to field an army. Love to have detail on the champions.

Come on everyone, fill out the survey. Maybe some publishers are looking. Grate time to let them know what we want

Roleplayers probably want a solution like War Machine, with no counters, no miniatures, no mess. I say, keep the emphasis on D&D, and let the mass combat be a background in front of which PCs can act - wargaming is way too time-consuming to do both, and although there's money in minis, attempting to convince hardcore roleplayers to become hardcore wargamers as well seems an exercise in folly, to me.

That won't stop companies from trying, though, so don't expect a miniaturesless War Machine-esque mass combat solution for the game from a non-fan source any time soon...

Good comments and from my first poll, exactly the opposite of what people want. About 1 in 5 either don't care for mass combat, or want the the outcome generator you talked about. The rest it seems want someting akin to mass combat with d20 rules.

Actually a really good outcome generator in which the party can fight their own battles can be found in Deciphers LoTR roleplay. Even though it is for d6 system, it is easy to port.

I was really surprised that people don't really want pre-painted figures as I though this would be a great solution to the ultimate pain in wargaming - painting minis. This has nothing on playing a battle for 6 hours, when it takes that long to paint one fig :)

Every one.

Fill out the poll in addition to comments and if you take the time to look at the poll results, fill ou the poll - please.

You bet people want pre-peinted mini's. The Mage Knight, Hero Clix and Battle tech/clix are the fastest growing product in the war gaming industry.

I personally love to paint individual mini's, but I don't want to paint an army. I don't play any war games except for Tractics, a WWII tank game, but that is besides the point.

Check ot the other poll an d get your socks blown off.

"1" person checked pre painted minis.

I'm stunned. Ithough this would be a must have for dnders to have a mass combat system.

Persoanlly, if LoTR had pre-painted minis I thinl it would be the hottest war game for the next two years.

I disagree. The painting hobby has long been one of the supporting pillars of GW's games. If they released a game with pre-painted miniatures, I think they'd also risk alienating a great portion of their old customer base.
