Yuan-Ti,

you forgot the Black Company Campaign Setting MDT Rules.

Most of the MDT sytems presented so far a rather static. Either there is a static MDT or a static save. Both don´t take into account that, as the PC advance in levels they get better saves and deal more damage (and in tun get dealt).

I found, that the BCCS MDT rules work well for varying levels.

MDT: Con Score + 1/2 lvl.

Save: 10 + 1 per 5 pts. of Damage

More interesting is what happens, when the PC misses the save?

I tend to favor MDT = CON + HD, Save DC = 10 +2/5 damage in excess of MDT, and failure takes you to - (the amount you failed by). You die at -CON.

This means that Constitution figures into the equation in four seperate places.

Hmm, some of these responses realy take the usefulness out of the Improved Damage Threshold feat :/

True. Although, if I'm gonna monkey with the MDT, tweaking the feat is no big deal, either.

To me, the great range of gameplay you can create by fiddling with a couple of numbers rather than creating new mechanics is worth the odd feat being less useful. Since most GT campaigns are going to be started from scratch, a less-than-optimal feat isn't going to hurt, since no one will take it.
