Max spell level known

just wanted clarification on something. is it right that a ranger cannot cast 5th level spells without taking the improved spell capacity epic feat? same deal with a bard and 7th level obviously.

Yep! Also keep in mind that there are no 5th level ranger spells or 7th level bard spells, so those slots would be used for metamagic.

oh yeah, it would help to think a bit. i somehow got it into my head that they could access the regular spell lists. so can either of them cast epic level spells? not that it really matters at the moment. i'm tweaking a friend's character sheet design and am making special pages for each of the spellcasters. i'll make the max spell level right instead of 9th for everyone. an epic sheet would probably need a big redesign anyway.

They can cast epic spells if they meet all prereqs and take the feat, but that takes a lot of work (and epic feats) to pull off.
