Maxminis is probably dead

This may be of interest to people who visit both Maxminis and ENworld. This is what we have been told:

A while ago, it became apparent that Maxminis' current server and forum software could no longer handle the load. A plan was made by the resident code guru, Jai, and the owner of Hordelings, Kevin Tatroe, to create a new site (tentatively dubbed "Maxminis 2.0") which would be hosted on a new server and would use new custom-built forum and trading software. It was also planned to migrate all users and data from both sites to the new site, and tools were written to help with the migration.

The owner of Maxminis (known only as Webmaster) no longer maintains a presence on the site. Jai and Kevin tried to enlist his support, but he was apparently unresponsive. Up until yesterday, that is, when he changed the administrator password to disallow anyone access to the database. Since then, access to the site has become erratic, and many threads were archived or deleted with no apparent pattern and for no apparent reason. Admins and mods are in the dark just as the rest of the users.

Since the site is currently unavailable, it has been suggested that the community should temporarily move to Hordelings until Maxminis 2.0 is ready. Because of the previously listed issues, it seems that there won't be a way to import anything, so we're strating from scratch.

I don't know how desirable this would be, but is there a chance of creating a D&D Minis subforum section here?

w00t I was the straw that broke the camel's back. The day after I registered on Maxminis, it died... I feel honored.

Seriously though, is there a problem with making a minis section on here?

I was considering suggesting the same thing, but ENWorld just doesn't have the necessary trading tools.

maxminis is moving to a new high speed server, so you may see some weirdness as the transition occurs. We lost posts from about 1 am to 11 am PST for today, and I'm sorry about that. The good news is I don't anticipate any further losses. Hang tight for the new ride!
