Back on the topic of animals.

For the most part whales (such as beluga, sperm, and blue) are different species from dolphins.

However, the orca, or killer "whale" is actually a species of dolphin.

That is inspiring, since I'll allow pc dolphins when I run underwater adventures. Crazy, crazy... but I like it.


I once kicked around the idea of the only critters who could use psionics were dolphins and other sea-based creatures. Dolphins would have been the only PC race you could take that was psionic and they would have had a zany psi feat thingie that let them function out of water.

I will not repeat the words my players used when I presented them with this notion. Suffice to say, the idea was not used.
