Maybe this is old news (CoC content)

What an amazing fan-site. I'm a huge fan of CoC the game (bought the 1E box set as soon as it hit the shelves) and Lovecrafts tales, and this is just a fantastic resource. The forums, the gaming downloads (a nice bit of D20 as well), the articles, the images/art, the Podcasts, etc.

There is one podcast in particular with a Sandy Petersen interview that really was informative- about the game itself (beginnings, design goals, etc), how he runs the game, some neat plot twists in some of his own games, the BRP system's strengths, working at Chaosium, etc etc.

I really liked when he was describing how he messed with his players-totally throwing them for a loop and freaking them out. I will have to steal some of those ideas for D&D as well as CoC.

Also interesting to note is that he designed around and runs the game in modern times- the whole 1920s emphasis was implemented by other Chaosium employees for flavor/narrative writing reasons as they were not keen on Lovecraft in the first place! (thanks to them for that decision, cos thats one of the best things about the game IMO!).

Old news of course. But I never did check the site out properly, which I will do now that you've brought my attention to it once again!

Thanks!

I can't find the interview you're talking about, though. Do you have a link?

Great thanks again!

I think one of the guys running the site is called Paul of Cthulhu, one of the best screen names ever!

NP, Maggan :)

The Monte Cook interview was pretty entertaining as well. I've always had a lot of respect for the man even if I'm not a big fan of his D&D work.

Thank you for the kind words!

Thank you for the kind words!

Paul,

Thank you for such an awesome site! I just listened to the interview and it was fantastic-all of it. I'll definitely be checking out many of the movies discussed in particular. But overall a very entertaining interview with lots of insight into CoC/HPL, Horror in general and some humorous moments too.

Is the the video interview you have pictured above somewhere on the site already? or is this part of the forthcoming DVD?

The video interview will be a part of the forthcoming DVD, which (hopefully) will be out by Christmas.

Cheers!

Paul
