i was just wondering, if you multiclass into cleric it states that you " once per day, you can use the cleric's healing word power. this power states that as an encounter power " you can use this power twice per encounter, but only once per round". so can i still use it twice per encounter but only once daily, instead of each encounter?

nope, you can only use it once per day like the cleric multiclass feat says.

EDIT: Yeah, sorry I didnt explain it more fully, Im a bit tired.

Flipgaurder is Correct. The power is the more general rule, and the feat is the more specific exception. This is an example of 'specific beats general' (PHB p.11). The power gives the general guidlines for how to use the power, the feat allows you to use this power in a specific way, so you can only use it once per day.

the initiate of the faith feat specifically states "once per day, you can use the cleric's healing word POWER". cleric's healing word power specifically states "you can use this POWER twice per encounter, but only once per round". minor action, encounter power. my translation (and one of my dm's) is that the power would become a minor action, daily power as per the feat's wording.

Yeah it is once per day not twice per day. When it first came out there was big ho ha over this, and many CustServ etc answers pointed to the once per day.

Still nothing more 'official' than CustServ, which has been dodgy in the past. If you are the DM then rule as you see fit but if you are a player I think you haven't got much to stand on if you want 2 uses of the power... compare to the other MC feats, it would be well overpowered.

i don't really see this as being over powered. rogue and ranger mc grant the use of their striker specific abilities (sneak attack and quarry) once per encounter. that's a plus 1d8 or plus 1d6 every encounter as opposed to the ability to spend two or three of my healing surges in a single encounter once daily. i guess it depends on the number of encounters your dm throws at you in a single day. thanks for all the help, and thank goodness for house rules.
ps. i am a dnd insider subscriber and it was the biggest waist of money. i bought it for the character builder before they deemed necessary to tell us that it would not be compatible with macs. dnd insider really is nothing more than an elaborate ad for their over priced and shotty quallity minis and numerouse extra books.(yeah i know i play an avenger, what can i say, i'm a sucker).

You're bad at this!

One player at our game table with a MAC runs a "virtual machine" that operates Windows XP with the Character Builder application. If your DDI subscription is still available, give it a try.

Ask the MAC forums for assistance if this interests you.

I'm running the Builder on my Mac right now! :)

I use Parallels 3 (they have a v4 out now for about $50). You also need a copy of Windows, however. Runs perfectly fine though! :)
