Me. vs. Universe

I need a character class (using existing ones) that can survive a swarm of orcs, kobolds, and CR 1 homebrew undead straight from level 1. I'll be journeying with:

A ranger who uses archery

An arcadian ranger (homebrew, ranger/wizard combo, can't use spells that damage hp)

A dwarf fighter (but I'm not sure)

I'm thinking warlock, but I'm not sure about invocations...

or maybe soulknife.

Human, half orc or dwarf fighter with combat reflexes and a glave, guisarm or naginata [like a glave, but the x3 crit is swapped with a 19-20 x2 crit].

Or a Dwarf fighter with war axe or tower sheild.

Duskblade might work for you. There's always Hexblade too, if you don't mind being a tad evil or non-good. Druids have decent survivability. Clerics, (unless you're in my games) survive pretty nicely. Just don't do bards. They never work out.

So... archer, fighter, and utility wizard with some combat potential, but no harmful spells...

Cleric would probably help the group out quite a bit, plus it'd be useful against undead. A sorcerer might not be bad; the arcadian ranger can probably handle a good deal of utility spells, leaving you free to blast... and blast... and maybe blast, but that's up to you. And, of course, someone with trapfinding would be helpful if you expect to encounter traps.

Clerics have great saves
Clerics can heal themselves.
Clerics....can wear fullplate armor!!

And if they choose the right god, Weapon Focus with the chance to go Weapon Specialization! (Sure burn 4 levels of fighter but after 15 level what the hell?!)

If it's going to be an outdoors battle.... then Entangle is your friend. So a druid would be the solution.

Make him an elf (for the bow proficiency) and take a wolf or riding dog as your animal companion (they are plenty tough).

Unfortunately, I don't think you can qualify for the Sudden Widen metamagic feat (double the area of Entangle once per day) until you have another metamagic feat, which would mean you would need to be human for the bonus feat.

Druid or Cleric would be my advice. Especially at lower levels, parties need someone who can cast cure light. Cleric with a warhammer would be my sugestion. Probably a dwarf for the CON bonus.

Dwarf with War domain. I think Moridin gives War domain...

 

[Plane Sailing]

Halfling barbarian with mounted combat and riding dog. Uses small lance and small greataxe.
