Mearls' Legends and Lore - poll on delve format for adventures

As far as combat encounters go, I do like having "everything you need right there." (That "2006" link from earlier does include something that I haven't seen done elsewhere, though.)

Of course I also agree that that can make adventures tough to read through. What to do about that (ponder ponder)....

I still prefer the delve format for presenting (significant) encounters. The only change I'd like to see: WotC adventure modules come with two books: One containing the encounters and one containing the adventure overview. The latter needs to become the more important one.
This, this, a thousand times this. The delve format is fantastic for boxed sets, but becomes cumbersome if you insist on presenting an adventure as a single book. I was going to skim the thread and make that suggestion if someone else didn't, it's nice to see that someone did within the first dozen posts.

My question: How many of you have run P2: Demon Queen's Enclave or the new Tomb of Horrors?

The question is due to both being very good (possibly even great) adventures with the Delve format.

Cheers!

I haven't played P2, but "Tomb of Horrors" really isn't a good (much less great) adventure.

However, its flaws are almost entirely nothing to do with the Delve format.

Dungeon Delves can horribly die and burn in hell, thanks.

On the other hand, I like monster stats printed on adventure.

My gut tells me that most of the objections to the format have to do with the implementation, rather than the core concept. Improve that, and you can probably get the best of both worlds.

We developed a more practical version of it six and seven years ago with the first Cooperative Dungeon right here on EN World and it has served quite well. Incidentally, I recently checked the records and noted that the downloads of the CDs, which have always been free and released over 2004-2005, have hit some rather impressive numbers.
