Mechwarrior 5?

werk

First Post
Mechwarrior 2 was one of the first PC games I had. Mechwarrior 3 was my first online gaming experience, and I was addicted and eventually rose to lead my guild(clan). Mechwarrior 4 was a bit of a disappointment to me and just didn't have the staying power as it lacked the white-knuckle intensity of MW3 and provided less customization.

Mechwarrior 5 is reportedly cancelled and it's future uncertain. I think FASA is no more.

Does anyone know anything about the future of the MW video game franchise? I think their mini's are a hot seller now, so I have to think that the brand is living on.

Any info is good info.
Thanks!

MechAssault is a more action oriented version of it.

FASA is no more, but FanPro and WizKids own Battletech licences now.

But 5 is likely not coming. You can still play the sims at places like Dave and Busters

FASA created FASA Interactive to make videogames using their IP. Before FASA closed shop, they sold FASA Interactive to Microsoft. I believe that any videogames using FASA IP have to come out through Microsoft. They seem to be more interested in the Mechassault style action games than in simulator style games, so I doubt we'll see Mechwarrior 5 anytime soon.

Edit: Jordan Weisman founded FASA, FASA Interactive, and Wizkids. He went over to Microsoft when they acquired FASA Interactive. Wizkids controls the RPG and miniature licenses to most of FASA's original IP. Fanpro produces material via a license granted by Wizkids. I'm not sure if Mr. Weisman is still with Microsoft or not.

Also, FASA Interactive/ FASA Studios is doing a Shadowrun shooter game, so the division of Microsoft is still there, though I don't know how many of the older folks are left.

I can still play MW3 and MW4 online through microsoft's Zone network, even though I have to play MW3 on my old comp, which is a hassle.

Just hopeful, I guess...
