Our first two reviews for Dogs of War are in and the reviewers are agreeing-this is a great original idea! Check out the one at Gaming Report here and the one at D20 Magazine Rack here. A quote from Serge the reviewer from Gaming Report about DoW "...I’ve recently come across a d20, Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) inspired RPG that really offers something useful to Dungeon Masters (DM)... I commend the willingness to use this additional material as it captures the spirit of the OGL’s intent.

Hey Joe,

Thanks for the review. We appreciate it and will be taking some of your suggestions very seriously for the next installment. In regards to you comment regarding having a picture for each stage. That would be very cool but cost prohibitive. Jason Engle did these two and will be maintaining that level of quality on-going. The challenge there is paying an artist like that for 9 pictures and charging 2.50 cannot work. We would have to charge more than $10. Since folks seem much more interested in the content then the art itself (even though it is awesome) and we want to keep the 2.50 price point, we are going to stick to the one pic per NPC.

I really wish we could do the pics of all three stages but I don't think folks will pay for it.

You may be right amigo, but counter question.

The series is already going up to 20 pages with the next installation. If size increases, say to 25 pages with all the extras added on say a section on using these creatures in a VP system or different genres as generic mutations, etc... or a variant write up via Mutants & Masterminds or another D20 OGL based system, will they still be $2.50?

On the otherh and, if the art goes to black & white, for say, ease of printer reference and isn't full color, that might be another easier method of having multiple illustrations.

One thing I do hope that the series does is self reference itself. For example, if there's a demonic master down the road, what would his relationship be with Hellstormer or if there's a bard seeking out some type of uber challenge for his skills, mention Ogu-Ky.

Issue #1-Our goal is to do them at $2.50 even if they are bigger, we will see if the budget can handle that (staying at the same low price).

Issue #2-Being that we are having one author do the whole series it should be natural to have some self reference in the series.

Glad you liked it Joe!
