For Immediate Release: October 7, 2003
Gaming Frontiers Falls Under The Gaze Of The Mystic Eye
Following closely on the heels of the announcements regarding Bard’s Production becoming a new family member of MEG and MEG and Ronin Arts combining PDF catalogs we had to do something different and here it is: Effective after Gaming Frontiers issue #5 Mystic Eye Games will be revamping the quarterly digest and releasing their first issue in the early part of 2004.
Doug Herring, president of Mystic Eye Games had this to say about this change:
“We at MEG have always been a huge fan of Gaming Frontiers and the goals the publication was attempting to achieve. Robert’s concept for GF was fantastic and we feel that with our resources and growing name in the market place we can achieve the dream that Robert had for Gaming Frontiers, the quarterly d20 journal. While some things may change to maintain profitability we desire to keep the overall format and integrity of the product. We are planning some nice surprises and will cram this book, as usual, with useful and relevant content.”
Robert Williams, president of United Playtest stated:
"I couldn't be more pleased with Mystic Eye Games acquisition of Gaming Frontiers. They have been regular contributors from the beginning and have always been very supportive of what we at United Playtest were trying to accomplish with the product. I am confident that Doug, Hal and all of MEG's talented staff will take Gaming Frontiers to a level of quality I only dreamed of. It hurts to say goodbye but I know my baby is in capable hands. We here at United Playtest look forward to reading, enjoying and reviewing the first issue."
The first quarterly digest produced by Mystic Eye Games will feature a Todd Lockwood cover and 144 pages of new d20 information from today’s biggest and newest upcoming publishers. The new Gaming Frontiers will be a tribute to Robert Williams work and love and hopefully honor him by having many years of solid, quality, original RPG material.
If you have any questions about any dealings with Gaming Frontiers or United Playtest prior to the assumption of the Gaming Frontiers property by Mystic Eye Games please contact Rob@unitedplaytest.com.
Mystic Eye Games is the publisher of the award nominated lines The Hunt: Rise of Evil, Bluffside: City on the Edge and Foul Locales, as well as some new lines including Player’s Advantage, Fall of Man and other d20 System titles. Created in 2000 by Doug Herring and Andrew Thompson, the gothic style company only gained more popularity when Hal Greenberg joined it in late 2001. Since then, the company has brought some of the most innovative products to the RPG customer.
