[MEG/Pinnacle] Mystic Eye to Publish Deadlands Sourcebooks!

"As you may know, Pinnacle is a small company with big product lines, and we often have trouble supporting them due to simple time constraints. The economy right now doesn't allow us to increase our staff, so we've come to a wonderful arrangement with our good friends at Mystic Eye Games.

Mystic Eye will take over production and distribution of new Deadlands books, starting with the long-awaited, much anticipated Deadlands: Europe sourcebook! Best of all, Shane Hensley, creator of Deadlands, is still the Project Manager, and will be heavily involved in the creation, approval, and editing of these books!

Pinnacle will continue to sell Deadlands backstock (see THE BIG SALE!) while Mystic Eye sells all new books through its normal distribution chain. Pinnacle will also have these new books available on its website for those folks who's local store doesn't carry our products.

"We're incredibly excited about this arrangement," said Shane Hensley, President of Pinnacle. "Doug and I struck up a friendship quite a while ago, and Mystic Eye has done a great job of picking up the ball on other games such as FFG's Dragonstar. That means I can still control the intricate plot of the Deadlands world and remain heavily involved, but can devote my time to my current somewhat overwhelming workload with Savage Worlds. Best of all, the fans of Deadlands, who have remained true despite a very slow release schedule from me, can finally get their hands on certain books they've been asking for since Year One!"

Doug Herring of Mystic Eye had this to say: "I have always been a great fan of Deadlands and am thrilled our team will be able to work closely with Shane Hensley to design top notch products for the line. In the tradition of our current license agreements we are committed to make new Deadlands books as high quality as possible and with Shane's help I see that as entirely achievable. Our team is excited and ready to dig up some ghost rock! We are certain that Deadlands fans everywhere will be satisfied with the results of our efforts, because Shane himself will be heavily involved."

We will be dual stating all of the Deadlands books so they will also have d20 info.

That kicks SO MUCH BUTT, Hal.

Of course... the fact that I have writing assignments with y'all and Paradigm until 2004 now means I won't ever have a chance to work on these projects... which in turn saddens me.

But not as much as I am happy to see the line continued in able hands.

Has there been any plans to bring d20 Deadlands under d20 Modern? I think in many ways the specific uses of Advance classes and professions might bring the feel closer to the way of the original Deadlands style.

Ick. No d20 Modern, please.

I like d20 Deadlands the way it is, and it is actually quite close to the original, because the original has archetypes which are more or less like the d20 classes for Deadlands. Which is why the d20 class splatbooks are more or less the regular DL splatbooks, or have a lot of recycled material in them.

Congratulations to both of you! This is wonderful news. I've been a long time Deadlands fan and it is great to see such a powerful strategic partnership that will keep the Deadlands growing.
