Mega Adventures

This is a great idea!

However, As a DM I would like to read the results of all the possible outcomes, to be better prepared. So I would be willing to purchase a Mega adventure based on this design. It's true I would be buying large portions of adventures that would not be used, but still it is worth it.

A bit like the old B1-9: In Search of Adventure.

Unfortunately, your last statement is correct. It's simply not financially viable. After all, you're talking about a line of products with a built-in depletion of the market. As the line progresses, you have to publish a greater number of "option books" for an ever-decreasing audience.

I love the idea in theory, but it's simply not practical in application.
I know, thought about it as on-demand publishing and with modules that looped back but it just did see it happening. :(

I don't recall seeing anything about wizards doing "mega-adventures", but I do remember seeing that they would be doing adventures. Since they have announced adventures for FR for the end of the year, I think that this is what they were referring to.

On the other hand, I like mega-adventures, so I'll take it either way. :)

Maybe I just misremembered - as I said it was some time ago that I read about this - it could have been normal adventures. The point still stands, though, that I see no adventures mega, mini or normal sized in the product catalogue.

Alert! Shameless Plug Forthcoming....

I am currently writing a large "Mega Adventure" for Troll Lord Games. The final manuscript will be done and submitted to them next month. Cartography and art are currently underway.

It is called "The Cult Of Yex Campaign", and will be hardcover. It is a full adventure path taking a party from 1st to 20th level. It has been 5 years in development. Our primary focus is story and plot and has about 50/50 dungeon crawl vs. other. Other includes political intrique, mystery solving, wilderness, extra-planar, puzzle solving, NPC interaction, etc... None of the dungeons are what I would call overly big, but there are lots of them. Six of the eight modules have substantial extra-planar components. Two of them take place almost entirely on the Astral Plane, three having pocket dimensions of sorts, and the final module taking place almost entirely in the Abyss, with the party having to choose between the lesser of two evils in a demon war.

It consists of 8 full sized modules, a drop-in regional setting, and 2 drop in city settings. Lots of extras including magic items, spells, new monsters, etc... The eight modules can be played in series as a full campaign arc... or each module was written to be playable as a standalone. The full hardcover should be competitive with even dungeon mag in terms of bang for the buck.

If anyone has questions please ask them here. I would be glad to answer them.

right this is what i'm remembering too.

plus the continued release of the railroaded adventure path for Eberron

Maybe they'll update the old Path adventure series to 3.5 and make the links more engaging and provide more hooks. I'd love to get rid of my old books and replace them with a shinny new hardcover.

They announced the FR adventures (and other possible adventures) at the GAMA trade show, but it has not yet appeared in the Wizards online catalog. Gamingreport.com did an article on it, and there should be a discussion thread about it around here somewhere...

Edit: Here it is: http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=124639
