Does anyone know if advertising on enworld for players works?

Our group in Melbourne, Australia is looking for new players - We play on Friday nights at The Basin. We are all about 30 years old and are a fairly stable group having been together several years together now. We rotate DM's and play a mix of straight modules and home-brew campaigns at various times.

However we need new blood - if anyone wants a game give me an email on gamersteve@optusnet.com.au to set things up.

You will find us an easy-going bunch of guys who like a laugh and bit of serious role-playing mixed in. If you are looking for a game why not try us out one Friday night.

Whats with the "Almost in NZ" business? I wouldn't join this group for that alone!

As for easy going, this is a group where the DM has a higher kill rate than the PC's.

I was in Melbourne a couple of months ago and visited Mind Games, supposedly one of the largest gaming stores in Australia. I spoke to the RPG Manager, Matt Butcher, there who gave me an overview of the business Down Under.

Also, you should know that there's a gaming group that gets together at RMIT University. I actually got a chance to meet the nice folks there during a game day that by chance was being held on campus. It's a pretty big group. A very friendly chap named Chris is a member here at EN World and he invited me to come by, but I don't remember his handle.

Anyhow, I don't know if they have a bulletin board or not, but you may want to post a "game wanted" ad at Mind Games if they do. Here's the link to their Web site:

If i was looking for a game, I'd reply. Tho to be honest, the Friday night thing might put me off.
