[Melbourne] Where are the good stores?

I've just moved from wellington, NZ to Melbourne, Australia to do my MA. I was wondering if any of the Aussies on this board could help me out.

I've been to Mind Games on Swanson st. It seemed fine, and the guy was nice and helpful, but Iw as wondering if there were better stores around. Do people use stores of Military simulations? Or something else?

Any help would be much appreciated!!!

I live a couple of hours outside of Melbourne, but I do know two good ones. MilSims in Moorabbin is excellent (www.milsims.com.au) Every six months they have a huge warehouse sale where you can get products very cheap. They also deal in second hand games and books. They are located at 134 Cchranes Rd Moorabbin and can be reached at 9555 8886.
Another store is the Dungeon of Magic in the city. They are located in Royal Parade in the basement level. It's a bit tricky to find, it is opposite Myer and you have to go down stairs and turn right... it is the end store.

Hope this helps!

yup, that's it, more help though...
If you want to game, there's the Science Fiction Games Association running at RMIT university in the canteen every Wednesday and Friday, especially in the evenings.
There's also Infinite Images at Melbourne University, whose meeting times are sort of less consistent...
where u doing your MA?

hmmm...i'll check out dungeon of magic, tho the new releases section of the website hasn't been updated since november...

is millitary simulations a shop? or do they just have the sales there?

Mil Sims is basically a clearance warhouse, and do mainly mail-order. They do sell direct to public though, and pretty much have the best prices around.

Note that it can be hard to find (I walked from one end of Cochranes Rd to the other, in 40-odd degree heat looking for the damn place).

I do most of my shopping at Mind Games, mainly because I'm too lazy to get out to Moorabin.

There's also Napoleon's Military Bookshop at 309 Elizabeth St. It's got a few bits and pieces of roleplaying and wargaming stuff, as well as an excellent range of military books (surprisingly enough).

Welcome to Melbourne!:)

I went into DoM once and found that they didn't have a very extensive range. Mind Games is better IMO. There's also Alternate Worlds. They have a store in Chapel Street, Windsor (near Prahran). I haven't been there, so i can't tell you what it's like...

If you're looking for gamers locally, you could try posting in aus.games.roleplay.

Hope you enjoy your stay in Melbourne :)
