Pathfinder 1E [MERGED] Pathfinder forum complaint threads

Wow.

I didn't mean to have folks think I thought there was a conspiracy. I just think that segregating off different games from General is a bad idea.

if its just a temporary thing, I'm cooler with that I think.

Though I prefer using the general forum as a bellweather of what is on the minds of gamers and shunting topics away from it makes this less easy.

A Pathfinder tag would be awesome, but this split off forum seems bizarre, and lends itself to seeming like a ghetto (regardless of intention).

What about Pathfinder content in Kobold Quarterly? What about 3rd party Pathfinder material? How about we shunt 4e new release threads and the DDI new article coleslaw into a forum of their own?

Don't like this move at all.

I am OK with it, even though I think it is not such a good idea, as plenty of 4e threads are still in the general forum where they should not be.

Prefixes don't cut it. The problem is, whenever one particular topic dominates becuase of a large influx of new threads, it means everything else is moved to later pages, and people rarely go there.

I think that Pathfinder might deserve its own Pathfinder Rules and Pathfinder House Rules forum eventually. The Rules and House Rules are exactly about that, rules stuff, regardless of edition.
But at this point, the discussion is still in the "get to know it phase", all over the place.

And organizing all this varius impressions and thoughts into one thread sounds like a good idea.

I expect that Pathfinder setting or adventure discussions as well as general game/adventure design stuff (that might be inspired by Pathfinder) wil go back to General Forums eventually.

The General forum serves its purposes best when it contains multitude of topics, ranging from D&D specific concerns to game styles, design thoughts, questions on various game systems, DM advice, quotes and anecdotes, blog or magazine articles (DDI, Kobold Quarterly and what-you-have) and so on.

Just a general request to mods:

Please try not to be overzealous in moving general purpose threads that happen to mention/use Pathfinder into the separate forum.

I have bad memories from the 6 months or so immediately following the 4e release when it seemed like any thread that even mentioned 3e got shunted into the 3e-specific forum, which was itself a ghetto where threads went to die. It really turned me off from ENWorld for a while, to the point that I stopped coming here for over 6 months.

So, while I understand the desire to keep things nicely organized, please, PLEASE don't be overzealous about it.

Seems like some people are making mountain out of molehills here and it really illustrates just how much resentment there is between porponents of the different versions of the game still exists.

To those playing Pathfinder, I have a question: Do you think Pathfinder would be better served separating that playerbase from those who play 3e? I'd think that you'd serve Pathfinder better by promoting a higher level of interaction with the remaining 3e crowd (as there are probably some converts to be had). So I'd think you would want a specific 3e/Pathfinder forum.

I'm really happy for the guys at Paizo. I love that there is a fanbase there. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Pathfinder, in fact, an OGL game? Doesn't it use the OGL? Doesn't it promote that it is 99% compaitbale with 3e? Doesn't all of that mean that a prefix of 3e/OGL accurately describes Pathfinder? Do you really want to tell the 3e crowd, "this is not 3e, go away?"

I'm seriously just asking what the real aim is here. Me sense is that some people feel that Pathfinder having its own forum somehow removes a level of validation in its status as a version of D&D.

I like your idea. 3 sets of coupled forums (rules and houserules) for 4E, 3E/PF/OGL (with tags for 3.0, 3.5, PF, and OGL or others), and for 2E/1E/whatever other names the game went by before 3E (I' m a young gamer, I really don't know).

And, in a touch of irony - we have a forum for discussion of the forums. Thread moved to Meta...

Which upon seeing, caused me to think the OP wanted to rename the Meta forum. :)

The Pathfinder forum is there because I think it'll be useful. If it turns out it's not, then I'll get rid of it.

Nothing "should" be anything. I think this will make things easier for the largest number of folks, so we'll give it a try.
