I started the appreciation thread in the Pathfinder Forums, without knowing about this Meta Forum. While no one has questioned it, my appreciation was completely sincere. That is, it wasn't a statement being made to counter the hard feelings of others.
Speaking strictly for myself, I'm not a regular EnWorld person. It's a fine board but I haven't always enjoyed it. Please don't take that as a criticism, which could be as much about me as it is EnWorld.
Having said that, with the creation of a Pathfinder Forum, I'm starting to stop by EnWorld regularly... and basically enjoying what the board has to offer. I've read the General Forums, and I purchased a 4E product (!) from the EnWorld store. Similarly, when I read the posts in that appreciation thread I started, I hear that sentiment being echoed by others. That is, "I am or may start coming to EnWorld more often now."
I can't speak for those other posters, but it feels safe to come to EnWorld and talk about Pathfinder now. Don't misunderstand me, I'm interested in critique and less than positive comments about the system. However, there is a world of difference between a critique of the game made by someone who is genuinely interested and and invested in it, and a critique made by someone who has rejected it regardless.
The Edition Wars sucked. I think we can all agree on that; and you can argue that we all won, or we all lost. In either case, we all lick our wounds the best way we can. I don't quite understand these comments that people are irritated, puzzled, confused. It sounds as if something has been taken away from you and your community. In that respect, I can relate to the irritation. My counter to that is what you might be seeing is something that was lost entirely to your community starting to come back at last.
Or, I could be wrong. I don't know. But I know it's true for me.
Finally, the status quo doesn't have to remain the way it is right now. Given time, maybe Morrus should fold all of the Pathfinder threads back into your General forum. In the meantime, this could be a subtle way to show that the Edition Wars are over.. and let the grass grow back on the proverbial earth that got scorched. This might be a good way to begin.
