Mesoamerican based Campaign

Has anyone ever run a D&D campaign based on mesoamerican culture? I mean an Aztec, Mayan, and Incan influenced setting? How did you set it up and how did it go?

Thanks

No, but I too would be keen to hear from anyone who has, or can point to source material! The earlier edition Maztica setting was along these lines, wasn't it?

Maztica would probably make a good starting point, especially since it can be downloaded free, but the culture is in many ways a direct cut and paste of Mayans and Aztecs. Reading the history section is like reading a text on Mesoamerican history with the names changed. And, I'll second checking out Dragon #315 if you can, it's got 3e stats for jaguar and pluma knights as prestige classes, it would probably be a good foundation to build a conversion upon.

I bought Maztica at the time it came out and found it pretty disappointing for the reasons above really. At least two of the adventures, Endless Armies and City of Gold, were also available for free download last time I checked. It's a good starting point for what you want to do, but it definitely needs some quirky bits of flavour adding.

Cheers
