Metal Badass Dead

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- At least five people died and two others were wounded after a shooting at a Columbus nightclub on Wednesday night, NBC 4 reported.

The shooting took place shortly after 10 p.m. at Alrosa Villa, located at 5055 Sinclair Road.

Two members of the heavy metal band Damageplan were reportedly shot and killed, including Dimebag Darrell, formerly with the band Pantera, NBC 4's David Wayne reported. The other band member's name was not released. The alleged gunman also died at the scene, Wayne reported.

This is sad, Dimebag Darrell was a badass guitarist, and Pantera was and still is one of my favorite bands. I'm glad I got to see them live after reading this.

Here's to another person taken from us before their time.

Yeah, waking up and hearing this, was kinda jarring, as Pantera was a favorite of mine, and I enjoyed listening to Damageplan. And I literally woke up to this news as I had just turned on the radio and the DJ was talking about this.

Saw Pantera 3 times in concert and had a good time at each one, never had the opportunity to see Damageplan. Dimebag will be missed.

CL, you never cease being a metal head, you might be conformatized but the rebel seed planted in you never perishes.

All hail metal, and metal hails you. Keep on rocking the skies, Dimebag.

Terrible news to hear first thing this morning. Extremely tragic. Like em or not, Pantera (and Dimebag) was always about the music, something that can't be said for a lot of artists these days.

Let us also not forget another victim, Vinnie Paul Abbott. He is Dimebag Darrell's brother, and saw him taken from him with his own eyes. As an only child, I can only imagine what his loss must feel like. :(

i wasn't a pantera fan, but this was still pretty harsh. i did respect the music.

I worked at the ALrosa a few times. Nasty place. Not this kinda nasty usually though. :(

i don't imagine they'd be in business for long if it was. ;)

I was a big Pantera fan back in the day, didn't really listen to Damageplan. It is such an awful loss though, being a Columbus local, it as Crothian said has been all over the news. There probably would have been even more life loss if the CPD hadn't made it there within two minutes...
