Metal Badass Dead

I am also disturbed by it, I can't imagine some of the crackheads that think the strife between bandmates is so worth taking their lives. This was all based around the perception of Phil and Dimebag arguing over who was responsible for the break up, nothing more. Dimebag didn't deserve it, there was no way that he should have died other than by liquor, as Hank Williams III from Superjoint said.

I am glad that it wasn't worse though. Tragic as it was, I can only imagine if he walked in and had a bomb strapped to him. You may think that I am crazy to think that, but if this was one of those type of of guys to walk in front of everyone and murder 5 people, then it would have happened easily.

Dimebag, you will sorely be missed. May the whiskey eternally flow.

Or as someone else stated (can't remember where)with a bit of morbid humor, he went out like a rapper. Metal Heros are supposed to died in plane wrecks or bus accidents. Damn, how long should you listen to your pantera cd before the respectful time of mourning has passed? :\

Shoot I'm seriously contemplating getting the Damageplan cd, now, since I'd put off getting it before.

All of sudden, I reget not seeing DamagePlan perform when I had the chance. They played at Livestock 14, a big rock music fest in Zephrihills, Florida. They played last the first night and I walked away from the concert area when Drowing Pool went on since they failed to hold my attention. I wasn't a fan of Pantera or DamagePlan -mostly from lack of exposure to them- so I didn't bother with going back when they went on stage.

Now that I have taken the time to listen to some of Pantera's and DamagePlan's music, I've found a strong respect for them. I still wouldn't call myself a fan but I understand now how they and especially Darrell Abbott have influanced a lot of the bands that I am a strong fan of. However, I've now lost out on my chance to see Darrel play live.

R.I.P Darrell "Dimebag" Abbott, rock hard and loud where ever your soul resides now.

Dimebag's death is a tragic loss.

One of the other people killed was one of the band's bodyguards, Jeff "Mayhem" Thompson, I had met several years ago at Scarborough Faire in Waxahachie. If any of you have ever been there, you might have seen/met him. He was a big guy who organized the Highland Games, and competed. He also was one of the frontmen for the Rogues, the bagpipe band. He, too, will be missed.
