Evolution? Maybe eladrin rise in the Feywild as echoes of humans in the world? Maybe dragons arise as the most elemental of the natural creatures?

As it is right now, it echoes heavily the 2e origin stories where Corellon made the elves, Moradin made the dwarves, Gruumsh made the orcs and some unnamed human deity made the humans.

One: in a world created by gods and primordials, the answer is generally going to be yes! Gods made almost everything non-elemental that lives, so it's not terribly surprising that most individual species trace their history back to the gods! If you don't like gods, PoLand is just plain going to be the wrong setting for you!

Two: no, not every race needs to be designed by a god. Elves, tieflings, duergar, and shadar-kai made themselves. Humans made the warforged. Kobolds sprang from Io's blood (maybe). The primordials probably made Genasi. The angels formed from the Astral Sea, and were allowed to take on deva form by the world spirits. Most fey and shadow beings did arise naturally after the primordials made the Shadowfell and Feywild--probably, yes, including the eladrin/gnomes/dark ones. The world itself created wilden. And on, and on.

Three: as the excerpt notes, this is only the origin story that Io-worshippers tell. Of course they say he created the dragons. You'll note scourge dragons, unaffiliated with the son and daughter of Io, say that the whole story is despicable rubbish.

3 or 4 interesting plots right there without even trying.

Yep, that single passage has given me an awesome idea for the antagonist behind one of my player's Epic Quest.

Opening up the design space is a definite plus in this case.
