As a male gamer I think I was first embarrassed by gaming, not because of what people thought of the hobby, but because of the female art on the front of the covers. As a 12 year old, I will admit the pictures intriged me, but if i took them anywhere they were well hidden. I find them humerous now. you have to love the male intellect:)

yup- thats what it is....

and I like those pictures cause they show how a man respects a woman for her mind...;)

just a hought that popped up (no pun intended)- if these are the types of females that adventure, do you think the adventureres (males) agree to let them join the party cause of their combat prowess? or is it cause they provided some relaxational entertainment?

This is the middle ages after all....why should they be PC? politically correct i mean

For once, Mialee, I agree with you. I thought Pirotess's outfits were ridiculous, but those are much worse. Remember, humans may need cheesecake shots to look good, but elves are good-looking no matter what.

Of course you know that that is not Deelit- every guy i have known who has watched that movie has had a crush (or have) on her- she is the cutest thing out there.. and I mean that because she is both tall and graceful, slender, and beautiful- but deadly with a sword...always a bonus

...I entirely missed your comment on "waspish" having anything to do with being protestant, however.

WASP = White Anglo-Saxon Protestant

I don't think Joan Rivers is of Anglo-Saxon descent and she is definitely NOT Protestant! :)

Good article. The illustration of the woman with the realistic build was a much better cover in spite of the silly chain hankie armor she had on. One hopes that the company will pay some attention and have art on the covers that can be related to the reality of the book's contents and body types.

Are any companies exhibiting taste in game-related art? Claudio's line up of the races is good. Attractive but reasonable body types there.

CamelToe, the fact that your name and .sig line don't elicit outrage is astonishing to me. :confused:

The cover art selected by WotC is far better for attracting folks interested in fantasy gaming, IMO. They look like the old tomes our characters seek.

There is a place for glamour art but I don't know if the covers of the books are that place.

The types of women with unrealistic bodies stay in towns or castles with sugar daddies or mommas and provide entertainment there. Anyone who adventures has to have something on the ball to survive. It can be fun roleplaying a bubble head but they should learn quickly and be mostly self-sufficient.

Has anyone ever roleplayed a mature relationship in a game? I mean one where there was intimacy that went beyond sex and led to a love between the characters that bonded them together for the long term. I've found that PBeM allows for that sort of thing a bit better than face to face gaming since it seems easier for a DM or player to get into the mindset of a member of the opposite sex in a well-thought out post than in an off the cuff roleplaying moment.

I dunno, I read "waspish" as synonymous with all terms that could apply to Joan Rivers, that crotchety old harpy. Am I crazy, or is waspish a term for... unpleasantly vicious women?
