D&D 5E (2024) MichaelSomething's Official Statement on the 2014 D&D rules going out of print

I stand corrected I guess.
The fact that as a gamer even I'm unaware of half of this stuff is telling.
Target sells one Item with the D&D logo on it TWICE. That's not "Hard Core" merchandising. Half a store isle from floor to ceiling is hard core merchandising. I'll even concede the fact that retail is on the endangered species list.
Someone used the expression "Hard Core Merchandising". My experience with merchandising must be different than everyone else's.
I was the one who used that phrase, and I'm happy to withdraw it if it's presence is distracting. Use whatever alternative you wish.

I fail to see why my D&D branded coffee mug or T-shirt is harming anything or anyone.
See the scene in Greg Egan's Diaspora where two characters discover an ancient Coke can. They don't know what the minimum infectious agent for advertising is, so they take no chances and completely destroy it.

My point from the beginning was simple. D&D is hard to market outside of its own niche. We should be drowning in 50th anniversary adds and products.

Why isn’t there some kind of convention dedicated to the 50th?

Keep in mind that I’m nobody and I don’t know anything.

Because they decided to instead participate more broadly than they have since at least 3.5 in gaming conventions on a global scale.
Their booths at GenCon and PAX are bigger than they've been in a decade.
Their people are at smaller cons too.
If you want them to target gamers, that's how you do so.

I stand corrected.
1 commercial from 40 years ago.
Here’s to another 50 years!!! 🥳
They had more than that one commercial. Not as many as something like McDonald's or a car company, but I think I saw 3 or 4. Plus they advertised in a few mainstream magazines.

Well; you’re aggressive and insulting so clearly you’re right.
Dude, read your post I was responding to. Read your initial post about grandpa and his magazines. Do you think you’re coming off as a sweetheart in this thread?
