Generally first year or two.

Early consoles often buggy, usually don't have any games worth playing often ports of the previous generation and if you wait you get a way better deal.

Also you pick up the previous generation games for pennies on the dollar.

Also not as hardcore now. Usually wait for sales to pickup games plus the DLC.

if that's the case might as well wait till the next generation of consoles comes out, then you can get the previous generation of consoles and games cheap.

I just played a bit of the master chief collection on the series x and omg so much better than the Xbox one version.

It's around about now I'm consider updating.

Using the Xbox One to play Knights of the Old Republic lol. Cost $7.
