Shouldn't we be more concerned that FFG raised the price of the second edition by $15 over the first edition? That's just insane. Did costs really rise that much in the two years between 1st and 2nd edition?

The second book combines the Midnight core and players guide of the 1st edition and also adds something like 50,000 words of new content. New art. Revised rules. beautiful book. well worth the price... for the book.

The PDF should be half at most (as all PDFs of prints should be IMHO).

I would buy more PDF versions of my prionts if they priced it liek that.

You're the third person who's told me that. ;) :p

Sadly, I am interested in Midnight, would buy the PDF, but would not pay more than 50% of cover price for a PDF...

I NEED TO PAY FOR THE PRINTING COSTS AS WELL?

Oh come on, how much could it cost you to print a pdf that big with color art and get it into a binder format you can use? ;)

I would never purchase a PDF of a product for the same price as the book verison. That's just silly. The PDF version would cost me more after the costs of printing, buying a binder, plastic protector sheets, etc..

Does the new Midnight book have color art now? I thought the first edition only had B&W art.

Actualy, just like 1E, 2E has a color section in the front, and B&W throughout the rest.

Printing that, even in B&W would be a nightmare.

The pricing of PDFs is more complicated then you think. If they offer the PDF at to cheap a price, it is possible their distributer will be really upset with them. And that could be very costly. Also, I imagine getting a PDF up and running takes a bit longer then an hour but it really depedns what they offer as a PDF like books marks, and other PDF only options.

They aren't the first company nor will they be the last to offer expensive PDFs. In the end these companies are book companies and ot PDF companies.

But you have to remember, these are not the same type of products. Once is an actual book, while the other in eletronic bits of info. What I think might have been a little more favorable for retailers and customers is to build an affliate program where retailer can get a percentage of PDF sales they would get off their website or traffic they send to DTRPG. That way, the retailer gets cash from a PDF sale, the customer gets the item in the format they want and the publisher gets a sale. Everyone is happy with that one.
