Any news on whether midnight d20 will go 4E?

Also, what about dragonlance? From what I can gather the liscense has been bought back by wotc and margeret weis productions/soverign press no longer has it. Any news on dragonlance 4e then? (If they update it I hope they stick to the war of the lance timeframe, and ignore everything in the crappy 5th age)

Technically, the Dragonlance license expired and so reverted back to WotC. They didn't have to buy what they already owned but loaned out to someone for a period of time.

WotC promised to introduce a new setting every year. This year it will be Forgotten Realms. Next year will most likely be Eberron. Perhaps DL is the 3rd setting? Or they may bring it back to coincide with the 25th Anniversary (but don't ask me what year).

As for Midnight, that depends on the designer or publisher.

2010 will be exactly 20 years after DarkSun was first published.
2010 is also the year the psionic rules are said to be out for 4e.

So signs are good the setting for 2010 will be noone other than DarkSun. Dare you wake in the wake of the ravager? :D

Pure speculation. Besides, Darksun has exactly what to do with Midnight or Dragonlance? :\

In any case, it is my hope that after WotC has their initial sales under their belt and the FR/EB settings are doing well, they will enter a new 4e contract with MWP.

Re: Midnight.

I have not heard anything to the effect, but considering that it was FFG who raised an objection to the grace period between the 4e $5K Club and the free license being 1 month (eventually raised to 4 months, or through the end of 2008), one could infer they have something up their sleeve.

For what? WotC is planning on supporting each setting for 1 year (probably longer for the big names, but we'll see). That would mean that if they did DL right after Eb, they'd first support it for a year before considering MWP a go at it. DL belongs to WotC, not MWP. Ask Greenwood what WotC can do to a Campaign setting.

I think FFG's immediate plans for 4E entail a reboot of the excellent Legends & Lairs series of books. I can't see them committing to a redesign of Midnight, especially with the apparent restrictions on modifications to the core rules in the new OGL. If it is truly as restrictive as has been suggested, then I think it wouldn't be possible to upgrade Midnight to 4E without losing all of the differences that make Midnight so unique.

Even assuming they did want to update to the new rules, I realistically can't see it happening until at least summer 2009, probably later.
