Midnight the movie

Agreed. Even though I really like the Midnight setting, it did always strike me a bit as an "Alternate History" version of LotR.

They'll have to be careful lest they get pigeon-holed as a LotR clone. Any fantasy film now would have that problem, but Midnight doubly-so.

Movie looks like it has a great tone. Hopefully the acting / effects won't undermine that feeling too much.

Makes me wish my group's one Midnight game hadn't died. :(

The trailer did look interesting. But, it is far easier to edit a down to a couple interesting minutes than a couple of interesting hours. I remain... skeptical, but am willing to be convinced.

The number of people I know who are either performing in or working on that movie is rather frightening. it is being filmed here in Minnesota, which has a rather large movie industry developing. Combine that with all the stage actors we have here and you can do a fairly good film here relatively cheaply.

Damn. In the QT, I can hear the audio but the screen is white throughout the trailer. Anyone else experiencing this or even better, does anyone have an idea what might be happening and a solution.

Had the same problem. Easiest solution is to right-click on the QT window, save the stream as a Quick Time movie to HD, and then play it with VideoLAN. Worked fine for me. :)

Wow, I'm very impressed. It won't be the next Lord of the Rings, but it looks a hell of a lot better then either of the two D&D movies.

I was getting the same thing, but I updated my version of quicktime and then it worked just fine.

Closer to a direct yank from the period in the Silmarillion between the Nirnaeth Arnoediad (the battle of Unnumbered Tears, where Morgoth triumphed over the Elves, Dwarves, and men of the Edain and ultimately extended his rule across Middle Earth) and the War of Wrath, where the Valar defeated Morgoth and imprisoned him until the final battle*. Of course, it's not clear if Izrador could be defeated the same way, since the equivalent of the Valar is the other gods and the world of Midnight is supposed to be completely isolated from them.

* after which, his chief lieutenant - a guy by the name of Sauron - started to cause some mischief.

What I find interesting from the website is this:

MIDNIGHT CHRONICLES is the first product of our studio: a full-length feature film that will not only function as a great entertainment product on its own, but also serves as the pilot episode for an episodal MIDNIGHT CHRONICLES series that will continue this epic tale in 45-minute installments.

I interpret this that the movie is a 2 hour (approx) movie that is a pilot for a series of 45 minute episodes. Which means.....regardless of how the movie is intially marketed (movie theater, direct to DVD, whatever), the goal appears to be a television series (45 minute episodes + commericals = 1 hour TV time slot)..

Which would be super cool. Hope it works out for them.

People of EN World, I come from the future to tell you that the Midnight movie does not do well! Also, it turns out we should've paid attention to this global warming stuff.
