So it looks like the two latest products have been delayed again. "Under the Shadow" is no longer on their release schedule and someone on their boards have rumored that the line may come to a close.

Does anyone have any news about Midnight?

The next product, Forge of Shadows (Steel Hill) is at the printers now and should be available in two weeks. I'm not sure about Under the Shadow (Baden's Bluff), but it should be out in January. Last I'd heard, the writing and editing were done. In 2005, there's going to be a revised core book and 2-3 additional products. The fan site against the shadows usually has updated news.

Is it worth grabbing the current core book or would I be better off waiting for the new edition? Any word yet on how drastic the changes will be?

Any word at all on what changes there will be? (Classes, spells, races, the setting, what?)

Forge of Shadow is reportedly at the printers right now, and should be hitting shelves within the next few weeks. Under the Shadow has most likely been pushed to late January/early February.

I'm not sure what will go into the second edition (there's a thread over at www.againsttheshadow.org where they are taking suggestions as to what should be included, besides errata) but there's also another book on the schedule called Stars and Shadow. I think there was a link to gamingreport.com's synopsis of it, but from what I've read it will cover fighters and cultures in the world of Midnight.

On top of all that, there is a ton of supplemental material being put out by some of the freelance writers for the setting. Midnight is far from dead.

Far from dead indeed. :)

Phil, I think you should pick up both. :D Seriously, if you aren't planning to play it in the next few months, then I would wait. I don't know what's officially been released about 2nd Ed contents, but at the very least you'll be getting the version with errata plus converted to 3.5.

Steel and Shadow is the newly announced book covering fighting in Midnight, I believe it's slated for a February release. It's being written by the team that brought you the awesome Fury of Shadow box set, plus one other guy that I hear is a real turd but thinks he knows something about the setting. :D

In addition to those two, there are other books planned for '05, so the setting looks to have legs, and for good reason if I do say so myself! ;)
