(mildly OT) Scorpion King: Real?

The Scorpion King (Narmer, in Egyptian) was a tribal leader in pre-pharaonic Egypt. He ruled on about 3000 B.C. The only thing known of him is a tablet that features him wielding a club (no kopesh here, bub) to smash an opponent's head.

Imhotep was the chief architect of Pharaoh Djoser (1st dynasty, IIRC). He came up with the concept of stacking mastabas (burial houses) on top of each other, creating the concept of Pyramids! He was considered a deity from then on, presiding over mathematicians and architects.

The Pharaoh shown in the Mummy is Seti, father of Ramses II, who ruled on about 1260 BC. He was deemed wise and competent, and managed to establish a truce between Egypt and the Hittites.

The daughter of Seti shown in Mummy Returns is Nefertiti. Actually, Nefertiti was the wife of the heretic Pharaoh Amenhotep III, aka Akhenaton, who ruled about 200 years before the reign of Seti.

And Anubis has the head of a dog, not a jackal. It's a breed called Pharaoh Hound, and it can be brown, gray or jet black.

Correct again, Trevalon.

The historical Imhotep was a master architect and physician. His works became the basis of Egyptian medicine, much like Hippocrates work was the foundation of Greek medicine.

Some of his techniques involved using honey (a natural antibiotic) to treat wounds. There is even a reference to a potion with moldy bread that sounds like a primitive penicillin.

History/Discovery Channels had a show on him, it was very interesting and he was way before Hippocrates.

The history channel is running a show on the Scorpion King.

On the History Channel:
The Real Scorpion King
Tuesday , April 23 9:00 PM-11:00 PM

It's 3,450 B.C. and Egypt is in chaos. Nomadic tribes roam the desert, clashing in bitter conflict for control of land and wealth. Into the struggle steps one man who unites the warring factions and lays the foundation for the greatness of Egyptian civilization--King Scorpion. Evidence in his recently discovered tomb and primitive writing in a remote location in the western desert reveal that Pharaonic Egypt began earlier than previously thought--with a whole new dynasty called Dynasty Zero.
