So I buy a lot of PDfs. I like them, especially when I DM. Helps me prepair games on the computer much easier/fastr then a book does.

But I also feel books work better around the actual table.

So some of the books I know we'll use in an upcioming game I got printed out using mimeo.com.

I have to say I'm impressed.

Price wasn't bad either.

Just thought I'd share some happy today.

I could have done the shipping cheaper if I went with ground, but decided I wanted to spend a few extra dollars to get it to me faster.

Ok, odd question - how heavy is the cardstock they use? Like could make a DM screen with it kind of heavy?

I printed out my Age of Worms pdfs at Lulu.com; softcover (perfect bound, not spiral), ~650 pages for $17.03 plus shipping. They're the deal of the day to me.

Mimeo is pricing it at ~$30 plus shipping and tax. *shrug*

I looked into lulu, but was told they only print if you own the publishing license? (Maybe it was wrong?) Did you get it actually printed?

Also, it seemed like I'd have to call and get an estimate, whereas on mimeo I just uploaded it, and did it all online. (I don't like talking to people on the phone. )

Hrmm, 90lb cardstock if I remember correctly...

I wouldn't say it would be good on its own for DM screen. It's still relatively flimsy. As a cover for a book, it works fine though...

Not sure if they have a thicker stock.

I've got to say, seems kind of expensive if it is USD. Not sure of the MSRP off the top of my head, but I think D20 Future and Cyberscape are both about $30 a piece, meaning you could get both of them at MSRP for the same price.

Plus, you're ordering it online, so you might as well just order off Amazon and get 30% off the price. I'd rather have the actual books personally.

I got Elements of Magic Revised printed at a Staples Copy Center, and I couldn't be happier with the results. A clear cover sheet, with full-color cover beneath that, all the pages are very nice, not quite glossy but not printer paper either (double sided, of course), and then they had this textured plastic kind of back that, combined with the clear plastic cover, makes it feel very nice to hold. Spiralbound, as well. All for the princely sum of $15 USD.

I never said it wasn't. But if I just bought the books on Amazon I wouldn't have the pdf versions. I wanted the PDF versions because I like PDF for DMing.

The printouts are for around the table use.

I showed up at lulu.com, made a new account, started a new project, uploaded the pdf compilation, and designed a crappy cover. Took about 5 minutes plus upload time. They won't let you make the book available for sale to others unless you have publication rights, but they'll allow "just for me" type printing of pdfs. I'll have to post a couple of pictures (edit: see attachments; Bluespawn Stormlizard shown for scale).
