What have you seen mimics disguised as? What was the best disguise?

Most recently, I had a room in a dungeon be a mimic. The PCs walked right in to a swallow whole.

I believe there is a city that is a mimic out there in the lower planes. The people, the furniture, everything is part of it.

Mimics I've known:
Barrel
Door (I listen at the doo-OH GODS!)

I think the door was the best for what I have personally encountered. And yes, the ranger/rogue listening at the door was the first target of the mimc.

I wasn't actually in the game where it happened, but the tale still regularly circulates about one of the DMs who had a Mimic in the form of a boat, tied up at the bank of an underground river. So the PCs find it, and hop in, and he says, "So, you get in the Mimic."

"What? No, we get in the... boat... "

"Like I said, so, you get in the Mimic!"
