Mind Flayer ecology and related creatures

BOZ

Creature Cataloguer
Hi. :)

I need to know every source you can think of (books, modules, magazine articles) that discuss the ecology and culture of mind flayers, and how they relate to other creatures. And I do have my copy of the Illithiad handy already. ;)

Also, I need to have a list of every appearance of the following creatures: Illithocyte, Draknor, Voor Larva, Gohlbrorn, and Ustilagor.

Thats what my bookshelf and memory give away:

Spelljammer Campaign Setting pg 61 ff.
Planescape:Sigil and Beyond pg. 32-33 (about Ilsensine and its plane)
Menzoberranzan (Alhoon)
Ravenloft Thoughts of Darkness (Bluetspur and his Illithid vampires)

And this is on the web:

Epic Illithid Savant http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ei/20030608a (ick, munchy :uhoh: )

Edit: Illithid information is spread over almost all of the Spelljammer books so there is alot to be found there.

Paradigm Concepts released Unveiled Masters -- it's pretty good.

And there's a little info in the Forgotten Realms Underdark book.

Bruce Cordell (I think) wrote a book called The Illithiad for 2E DnD. I used to own it and thought it was really neat. If I remember correctly it dealt with ecology and possible art/architecture for Illithids and had some additional monsters in it (I don't remember any of thier names except for the Neothelid... oh! There were brain golems... I remember thinking that those were incredibly cool... but I was what... 14 at the time?).

Hope that helps.

Dragon 255 - The New Illithid Arsenal (by Christopher M. Schwartz) While technically an article of psionic items and monsters (Nyraala Golem and two ceremorphs - tzakandi of D&D Minis fame, and mozgriken), it does have a few bits on culture.

The Faerûn book Underdark includes a number of bits as well, such as Ch'Chitl, a city ruled not by an elder brain, but by a concord of illithiliches, and Oryndoll, city of loretakers.

I like to think so, at least. :)

There was an older Dragon magazine, the Sunless Realm or something, that talked aboutt he Illithid's true goals and their many minions.

A lot of those critters haven't been updated to 3.5 or even 3.0 for that matter. Good stuff.

Then of course there's the Monstrous Arcana book and it's three adventuerers for 2nd edition, and Paradigm Press take on things, and Spelljammer and other articles in more recent Dragon magazines and of course, the upcoming Lords of Madness.
